My team develops fundamental and translational research focussing on regenerative medicine and cardiovascular surgery. We aim to decipher the molecular causes of cardiovascular pathologies and to develop novel approaches of vascular regeneration and cardiac protection. Moreover, I investigate new biomarkers to support the development of clinical studies and improve clinical practice. I work across the NIHL and the University of Bristol and I am part of local, national and international research networks, including the NIHR Bristol BRU in cardiovascular disease, the British Heart Foundation centres of regenerative medicine and a Leducq Transatlantic network in vascular microRNA. At the NIHL I am hosted by the cardiac surgery team led by the BHF Professor Gianni Angelini, with whom I also collaborate in Bristol. Other key NIHL collaborators are Professor Sian Harding, Dr Enrico Petretto, Dr Gabor Foldes and Mr Nishit Patel.
