Joseph Miano

For the last five years, we have performed RNA-seq in human vascular cells and in silico screening to define new lncRNAs. We published the first vascular-restricted human lncRNA called SENCR and have humanized mice with a BAC harboring SENCR and its neigboring protein-coding gene called FLI1. We utilize an array of biochemical (eg, ChIRP, RIP-seq) and imaging (single cell RNA-FISH) tools to gain a deep understanding of lncRNA function and localization. Finally, for more than four years now, we have exploited the revolutionary CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing platform to elucidate non-coding functions in the mouse genome.
